Girona Province
The province of Girona lies in the northern part of
Catalonia. Its capital is Gerona ( Girona ), where just
over an eighth of the population of the province lives.
This province was heavily influenced by a multitude
of religions and cultures of its erstwhile occupants
which lends it a hotchpotch of architectural styles
from Romanism to modernism.
For the mountain sport buffs there are ski resorts
equipped with ski- lifts at La Molina, Nuria, Masella
and Vallter Tean 2000 .
Girona province has many tourist attractions. Various
monuments and archaeology features can be found in Ripoll,
Besalú, Pals, Ullastret, Ampurias, Rosas and Figueras.
The timeless charm of the Roman architecture, Arab
Baths, the magnificent Costa Brava, and the innumerable
museums dotting the narrow cobbled alleyways make Gerona
a ever popular holiday destination.
Gerona town, the capital, has a buzzing night life
with a rich smattering of tapas bars and cafes crowded
with locals and visitors that spill over onto the streets.
The town can be easily explored on foot as all the monuments
are concentrated on a thin wedge of land.
