Mataro
The coastal town of Mataro is nicely located at the heart of Barcelona province.
The charm of its marina and the countless beaches of this region are just
two good reasons to visit this coastal town.
Mataro is an industrial and commercial centre, but also home to several beautifully
constructed buildings and historical monuments. Sneak a look into the archaeological
site at Lauder tower.
The basilica of Santa Maria with Neo-Romanesque facades and the magnificent
City Hall,17th century, are worth adding to your tour of Mataro, as are the
House of Caputxines and the Regional Museum of Maresme. Designed by the architect
Josep Puig i Cadafalch, the Coll i Regas House is a popular tourist attraction.
Mataro had the first railway in the peninsular region of Iberia.
Mataro's marina and modern shops and restaurants can be found along the waterside,
and water sports and other recreational activities are popular here.
