Begur
This well known medieval town is a major tourist centre of the Catalonian
region.
A string of shops, restaurants and cafes are strewn along its pretty and strikingly
narrow streets, and the local landscape is characterised by the pretty beaches,
pine groves, and cliffs. An ideal setting for a relaxing holiday. Sa Tuna, Sa
Riera and Aiguablava offer the best spots for relaxing in the sun
On one of the finest parts of the Catalonia coastline, Begur is busy with tourists
almost all year round especially in summer seasons. The staggering beauty of
the rocky shore marked by secluded coves and a jagged cliff is simply unsurpassed.
The most notable tourist attraction in Begur, perched on a hill top, is the
historic centre that contains the remains of a 14th century castle. Peek into
the numerous stately buildings popularly known as the Nabob's houses for an
idea of the charm of the colonial architecture. The scores of whitewashed houses
along the intricate streets and the tiny old fishing quarters are worth ssing
as you wander around the town.
Nearby, travel to the nature reserve of Aiguamolla, with its rich vegetation
and a range of plant and animal species.
