Malaga Province

The province of Malaga has plenty on offer from the natural caves at Nerja to the old town of Estepona renowned for its tapas bars and cafes; from the vast stretches of sandy beaches at Fuengirola to the La Alameda park at Marbella.

The capital of this province, also called Malaga, is a port city on the Mediterranean, with many glorious beaches and great weather that draws tourists from all over the world.

Malaga is the city of Picasso, the bullfighting rings, an impressive Cathedral, enthralling Botanical gardens, interesting historical remains from the Phoenician epoch, innumerable tapas bars, sweet Malaga wine and much more…..that will ensnare you with its timeless charm!

Malaga has much, much, more to offer to you than just seaside and sunshine. Sailing, golf and tennis are popular and there's always a buzzing nightlife and other entertainments. Taking a stroll is a pleasant way to explore the rich historic quarter peppered with many important historic buildings, the Marina square that opens up into the sea, and the endless lines of shops displaying handcrafted shawls, lace and leather goods.

A visit to Ronda is a tourist must with the oldest bullring in Spain and the El Tajo gorge that will leave you spell bound!!

Shrimps in a myriad of preparations like roasted or boiled are worth sampling. Sign off in style with the delicate almond pastry, ''alfajor''.

Days Out in the Malaga province
>> La Alcazaba at Malaga - elegantly perched on a hillock, this military fortress built by the Moors is the city's most distinctive building, with an impressive double wall and several staggering defensive towers. Do not miss out the 14th century Gibralfaro Castle, an erstwhile lighthouse built by the Phoenicians that is only a stone's throw away from Alcazaba with which it is connected by ducts.

>> Balcón de Europa at Nerja - better known as the "Balcony of Europe", this magnificent promenade along the edge of a towering cliff, once the site of the great Moorish castle, offers enthralling panoramic views of the small coves and golden beaches against the backdrop of the mighty Mediterranean and hazy blue mountains.

>> Castillo de Colomaresat at Benalmadena Pueblo - this monument built in remembrance of Christopher Columbus boasts a rich medieval setting. The discovery of America is highlighted by the fine blend of various styles of architecture
>> Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Fuensanta at Coin - this beautifully preserved chapel perched atop a hill over a ground which is used for the annual fair is an interesting spot. Do not miss out the abandoned house that stands in a field that witnessed a brutal murder in 1893 during which the local priest was shot by intruders for money.
