Nerja
On the Costa del Sol, Nerja is a typical Spanish town which still retains its
charm.
Panoramic views of the sea are offered at the Balcon de Europa, a viewpoint
overlooking the sea, formerly a 9th century castle.
Nerja ha ssmall narrow streets with white washed houses and historically important
places and some archaeological sites. Visit the nearby caves close to the village
of Maro, with the stalagmites and stalactites all lit up , the caves also hold
the Cave Nerja festival of dance and music.
A viist to the hermitage of Nuestra Senora de las Augustus and the Águila Aqueduct,
an example of 19th century architecture.
To relax in the sun try the nearby beach of Burriana, which has blue flag status,
or Calahonda beach with its water sports facilities.
During teh evening take a stroll to the Tuti Fruit square with its string
of pubs and discotheques.
Eating out in the local restaurants try local dishes such as noodle casserole
and raisins from La Axarquía, all washed down with local Malaga wines.
