Capdepera
Capdepera is a charming little town situated approximately 10km from Arta.
Capdera's crowning glory is its castle. It stands on a hilltop with panoramic
views and houses a beautiful Gothic church. The castle can be traced back to
the time of King Sanc in the 14th century.
Having visited the castle, you may want to head straight to the medieval church
followed by the town hall square.
The Friday market of Capdepera is an interesting insight into the traditional
customs of Capdepera. You'll see craftsmen demonstrating the making of their
wares alongside vibrant street entertainers.
Capdepera has around 25 km of shoreline which, with its numerous coves and
inlets, makes excellent spots for secluded picnics.
However, if you prefer restaurants, Capdepera is famous for its seafood especially
its shrimps and lobsters.
Some of the common festivals of the town are the Sant Antoni celebrated in
January with bonfires and music as well as the Carmen celebrated in July which
honours Capepera's seafaring past.
