L'Estartit
L'Estartit is towards the northern end of Costa Brava, a tourist area popular
with the British, Dutch and Germans as well as the Spanish.
Set near the Montgri mountain ranges, L'Estartit has a traditional Spanish
charm in its ancient fishing harbour, and has transformed itself from being
a quiet fishing village into a popular tourist destination in Catalonia.
Estartit has several buildings of historical significance. The Latin American
colonial style architecture of Casa Salietti house and the Casas de los Americano
brings back reminiscences of a bygone era.The more energenic can try a walk
along the path that follows the river Rio Ter.
The endless stretches of beaches in Estartit includes three sections that offer
a perfect setting for scuba diving. You can also try snorkelling, windsurfing
or sailing, and a trip in one of the glass bottomed will give you a glimps of
marine life.
To get a taste of the authentic Mediterranean flavour walk into Thursday market
or try the local restaurants that specialise in sea food and also serve regional
delicacies.
Estartit is quite a favourite spot for familiy holidays with its restaurants,
cafes and pizzerias catering for the visitor.
