Pals
Deriving its name from the Latin word 'palus' meaning marshlands Pals enjoys
a sunny climate and endless stretches of beaches.
There are plenty of cultural points of interest. Adorned with an elaborate
façade of apses, naves and a huge bell tower, the church of Sant Pere is well
worth seeing not least for its combination of Baroque and Gothic architecture.
A visit to the underwater archaeology museum housed in a 15th century fortified
house is also worth a detour.
For the wine buffs among you, the museum hosts a permanent exhibition of some
of the finest wines and cavas.
Numerous water sports are available in Pals and there's an excellent golf
course too.
To get a picturesque view of the fields of Empordà and the Medes Islands head
to the Josep pla viewpoint.
