La Manga Mar Menor
Withn the Mediterranean on two sides La Manga Del Mar, the 'Estacion Nautica',
is on an arm shaped strip of land, and the settlement dates back to the 17th
century.
The first settlers of this region were the Neolithic men who were attracted
by the Sierra Minera and the moderate climate - evidence from the sunken remains
found at El Estacio shows that the town was used for fishing during pre-historic
times, and local black mud is still believed to have therapeutic power.
The salt marsh area and formations at San Pedro Del Pinatar Regional Park
is worth an excursion, as it is also a haven for migratory birds. The Calblanque
Regional Park is also worth visiting.
In the Plaza Bohemia is the heart of the town, and La Manga has night clubs
with a variety of entertainment.
Stretching a distance of some 40 km, many beaches ariound here have blue flag
status and an array of water sports on offer holidaymakers.
